Ok, so I'm not making any promises but I am trying to be proactive on my New Years aspirations. I want to be more of a reader. I'm not talking crazy talk like I'm never going to watch TV or read blogs so I can read a book a week or something. I was thinking maybe a book a month? That would be 12 books in a year, and quite frankly aside from Bible study books 11 more than I read last year. If I shoot for big books it may be less but at least its something to aim for. My only problem is I don't know what to read! If I'm only reading 12 books I don't really want to waste my time with some trash from the Target book aisle just because it has a cute cover. I googled every combination of must read book list, to best books etc to no avail... I had never heard of any of the books.
I would like some best of the best. Nothing weird, Nothing too intense. It's fine if it's Christian but I don't really want to read 12 Desiring God's or something along those lines. I tend to like girly books, and I like a good story. I would like to challenge myself to read some of the great must reads and not just trendy twilight books. Like I am considering Beach Music being one of them.
So I need your help blog friends! Tell me your must reads! What are they?! What books should I be embarrassed that I haven't read, because chances are good that I haven't! i.e. What are your favorite books of ALL TIMES!

whew...I could write you an epistle of suggestions but I'll start out with South of Broad by Pat Conroy. One of my most favorite books.
Right now I am reading a memoir that is also fantastic called Cowboy and Wills. It's about an autistic boy and how a puppy changed his life. If you like dogs, you will LOVE it!
There is also a Nora Roberts series that is great...about four girls that start a wedding company. It's a series of four books, the first book is "Vision in White".
All three books are light, easy reading!
I agree w/ Brooke...South of Braod rocks and Gmomma has it. Also, have you thought of The Dwelling Place and its prequel? They are awesome...Christian fiction, but not cheesy. Good stories and fast reads. It's a shame you're not a Grisham kinda girl...
Have you read any of Nicholas Sparks' latest? I usually enjoy his books. Aren't there a couple movies coming out based on his books? So, you could read them and then go see the movie.
I think Cameron has read some good ones w/in the past year, so ask her.
The Noticer by Andy Andrews, just finished it last night & its awesome...
If you haven't read Evidence Not Seen by Darlene D. Rose... i would be SHOCKED!! (and offended since you introduced me to her via sermon on tape)
if you want a fun read... Time Travelers Wife... but don't see the movie.
ps. you want to join my blog swap??
Have you read Redeeming love by Francine Rivers? also, Harry Potter series is quite amazing if you're into imaginative stuff =)
I agree with Redeeming Love, but another one of my favs is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I know the movie just came out (I actually boycotted it because I heard they changed it a lot from the book)- but ANY of her stuff is awesome! My Sister's Keeper is just my personal favorite.
You need to read "same kind of different as me" so great!! and "The help" Just a god read!!
Jan Karon's --- Mitford Series is good. There are maybe 7 or so of them.
Fannie Flagg's - A Redbird Christmas
Tuesday's with Morrie --- Mitch Albom
Yes, Harry Potter.
