Christmas Conversations

The joy of being with family over the holidays is all the great bonding time you get. A chance to sit back, relax, and catch up on each other's lives and well maybe if your family is anything like either side of my family you get to share special moments like these:

Uncle Ron: So Courtney, what's up with you? When are you ever going to get married?
Aunt Carolyn: Oh, just go ahead and be honest with him Courtney. You're one of those lesbians.
Me: Um, Jason (Ron's son) is several years older than me and he is just now getting married and I don't recall anyone questioning his sexual orientation!?!
Uncle Ron: Oh, don't worry we did.
Me: Are you kidding? Every time we came to visit he had a new girlfriend!
Aunt Carolyn: Ah, that was just a cover up.
Me: Well then my hetero-sexualtiy should be certain as I clearly have not been trying to cover anything up!
Uncle Ron: That's true.

And remember this? Well I brought it up to G-mama at Christmas.

Me: Boss lady said she and her hubs had fun visiting with you and Gdaddy the other night at the Christmas party.
G-mama: Oh, yes we did. She looked great.
Me: She does look really good these days. So I heard you feel sorry for me because I don't have anyone else to have in my Christmas card except a dog. (Insert fill in the family on the story and they laugh)
G-mama: Well boss lady proposed a toast in your honor.
Me: I'm sorry WHAT!? Y'all had a toast at the party on the fact that I am an old maid?!
G-mama: Well, just the four of us.
Me:And what exactly did you say in this toast?
G-mama: Here's to Courtney finding a man in 2010.
