A Pink Christmas

Christmas Tour of Homes with The Nester

I'm #619 over at The Nester's Christmas Tour of Homes, I'm fairly certain no one reads 619 posts. But, none the less, old and new blog buddies alike welcome to my house at Christmas!

My first Christmas in my house I decided I wanted a different color scheme besides the traditional red and green, and red just wasn't going to go with colors in my house...so pink it was! I found my tree skirt and stockings at Hobby Lobby. They aren't the fanciest things, and they were pretty cheap, but they are the only pink stockings and tree skirt I have found to this day. I took them to have our names put on them this year, they were supposed to be in green but they got confused. I may or may not have had a melt down, only fueled by the ignorance of the store that messed them up. I was, however, quickly reminded of how unimportant of an issue this was in the grander scheme of life which I was thankful for.

Here is my mantel all decorated.

Every year I end up doing things a little differently. Like this bowl of ornaments on my coffee table...the greenery was a new touch this year...we'll see if it makes a repeat appearance next year.

Last year I started looking for a table runner that I liked for Christmas and could never find one that matched my colors. So this year I decided to take matters into my own hands. I bought some burlap and made them! I used no sew fabric glue to hem them, and cut ribbon to lay across the top and I love the way it turned out! The ribbon isn't attached so if I want to use the burlap for other holidays I can.

Pretty much all of my decorations I continue to play around with and move them around. The dining room I have already re-done 3 different ways. I wish I had more of the mirror trees because I really liked them on top of the pie safe to add height over there, but then the middle of the table was kind of lacking.

Growing up my grandmother collected these little corn shuck/corn husk dolls. She has them for every season of the year and I used to love looking at them as a little girl. So, when I bought my house she decided it was time that I start inheriting them so I have a few for every season, but the Christmas ones are my favorite.

My first Christmas I also bought these mirror snow flakes that I hang in my windows. I have seven windows at the front of my house, unfortunately a few of them didn't fair so well in the summer heat in the attic and are awaiting repair. On a sunny day, which we haven't had in a while they are so shiny! I love them.

And last but not least the tree! Not my best lighting job ever but I redid it twice and finally I just had to be done with it. I may or may not have been disappointed with my original tree once I got it home and then taken my parents up on an offer to switch trees with them...only for them to get my original tree home to their house and discover there was a hole in the stand thus the tree due to lack of water was well on its way to an early death. They took the tree back and exchanged it for a third tree, but I promise I'm not spoiled. I would only be spoiled if I ASKED for their tree...they offered it.

Thanks for stopping by! Merry Christmas from In A Round Sort of Way!

I found you in that long list of comments too. What fun! I didn't play along in the tour of homes this year (my last year's post/pictures are the archive somewhere!) but I'm having fun visiting everyone else. I love the pink and am using it on my table too...because it goes with my Fiesta dishes...which about took my breath away when I saw the picture of yours!

Wow! It looks really cute! I love pink but considering I'm the only girl in the house, I don't have an abundance of pink decorations. I started at the bottom of the list so that you'd be sure to get comments. Have a happy holiday and thanks for sharing with us... I didn't get my act together enough to do the tour this year.

Well I went to #619, obviously, and I'm hoping some people get to mine as well - I'm even further down the list. I love your home and your decorations. I like the pink and green. How charming. I like your table runners. I may have to try your idea.
Have a blessed Christmas!

oh, of course people read 619! I'm somewhere in the 800s I think? No matter. Your home is so completely adorable! I am in love with all the pink! I also made burlap runners for our dining room table criss crossed for each of the 6 seats. It was so budget friendly and added a lot! Love it! Merry Christmas!
